Overview
AppFolio is a real estate software company featuring products for property managers, realtors, real estate companies, etc. They recently surveyed renters about their experiences when using property management platforms; what was useful and what wasn't. With all the data collected, they wanted to demonstrate the survey results within a blog post hosted on their site. How can I create impactful data visualizations that will captivate their audience while still providing essential information?
Approach
When it comes to data visualizations, simplicity is preferred. The usage of white space becomes essential so that the content provided does not become overcrowded.
Design
I worked closely with the copy writer to ensure the correct UI and visuals were used to convey the message. I worked in Figma to create the vertical infographic to be used in featured articles and on AppFolio's blog. The experience is intended to be read as a long scrolling vertical post that can be read one section at a time. I wanted each part to have its own significance in the design.
Email Newsletter
Working with copywriters, we created emails to explain the renter's journey and where to read its entirety. The email was created using snippets of the infographic intended to tease the audience of what they find when reading the blog. Users will be able to click through to learn more about the renter's journey to happiness. Along with copy, there will be data visualizations with imagery and UI showing data taken from the survey.
